Code Crafted Nexus LLC (160 Harris St, Grand Rivers, KY 42045) makes MEND. This policy explains what information we handle when you buy, activate and use MEND. We keep it short on purpose, because MEND collects very little. For a plain list you can check against the app itself, see What MEND sends and stores.

The short version

  • MEND does not collect your files, scan results, fix history, or what you do in the app.
  • No advertising or crash reporting. Anonymous usage counts are sent only if you opt in (section 1a).
  • Apart from the license check, MEND sends us nothing unless you opt in to anonymous usage counts. See below.
  • We never sell your information.

1. Information we receive

When you buy

Our payment provider, Paddle, is the seller of record. It collects your payment details, name, billing country and email address and handles payment, tax and fraud checks under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and the order reference so we can send your license key and support you. We do not receive your card number.

When MEND checks your license

When you activate, deactivate, start MEND and about every 12 hours, MEND sends our license server: your license key, a hashed (scrambled, one-way) ID of your computer, your computer name, your system type (Windows or macOS) and the MEND version. Your IP address is visible to our server as it is for any internet request. We use this only to check that your key is valid and used on one computer. We store your key only as a one-way hash (plus its last four characters so we can help you identify it).

1a. Anonymous usage counts (only if you opt in)

The first time MEND opens it asks whether you would like to share anonymous usage counts. Nothing is recorded or sent until you say yes, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. If you say yes, MEND sends Code Crafted Nexus LLC: a random ID made on your computer (not linked to your name, email or license), your system type, the MEND version, and simple counts, such as that a fix was run and whether it worked, that a cleanup ran and about how many MB it freed, or that the speed test, large-file scan, AI assistant or report export was used, plus when the app is opened. We never receive your files or file names, scan results, passwords or what you type. Your IP address is visible to the server as for any internet request and is not stored with the counts. Turning the setting off stops it at once and deletes counts not yet sent. We use the counts only to see which features are used so we can improve MEND.

When you contact us

If you email support we receive your email address and what you write. The “Email support” button in MEND opens your email program with only the MEND version and your system type filled in; you see it before sending anything.

Downloads

MEND is downloaded from GitHub. GitHub sees your IP address and the download as described in its own privacy statement.

2. Information that stays on your computer

MEND keeps its fix log, settings, license and AI settings in a folder on your computer (Settings → Show my MEND data folder). If you add an Anthropic API key, it is encrypted with your computer’s secure storage when available. We cannot see any of this. Uninstalling MEND and deleting the folder removes it.

3. The optional AI assistant

If you turn on the AI assistant, MEND sends what you type and short summaries of check results from your computer directly to Anthropic, using your own API key. Names, addresses and ID numbers are masked on your computer first, and you can preview what would be sent. We do not receive these messages and are not part of that exchange. Anthropic handles that data under its own privacy policy and the terms of your Anthropic account. It is off until you turn it on.

4. Other connections MEND can make

If you press Install for me on the Recovery page, MEND downloads the Windows ADK and Windows PE add-on installers from Microsoft after you accept Microsoft’s license terms. Microsoft sees your IP address as in any download and handles it under its own privacy statement. We receive nothing.

If you press Check for updates in Settings, MEND asks GitHub for the newest published version number. GitHub sees your IP address as for any web request. We receive nothing, and MEND never does this automatically.

Only when you ask: a speed test with Cloudflare; a download of the public CISA list of known exploited vulnerabilities when you run the vulnerability check; and links you click, which open in your browser. These services see your IP address like any website would. We do not receive anything from them.

5. How we use information, and why

  • To deliver and run your license (to perform our contract with you).
  • To email you your key and answer support requests (contract and our legitimate interest in supporting customers).
  • To prevent key sharing and fraud (our legitimate interest).
  • To meet tax, accounting and legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or selling.

6. Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run MEND, and only what they need:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, or in a sale of our business (with the same protections).

7. How long we keep it

License records (your email, hashed key, the activation details above and order reference) are kept while your license exists and afterwards for as long as needed to provide support and as required by tax and accounting law. We use them for accounting, support and fraud prevention. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, as described below; we will keep only what the law requires.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or move your license. Email support@codecraftednexusllc.com. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or California), you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict some uses, to receive your data, and to complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using your rights. Deleting your license record ends your ability to activate MEND, so we will confirm with you first. For payment records held by Paddle, contact Paddle.

9. Security

License traffic uses encrypted connections. License keys are stored only as hashes. Our license service tables are not accessible from the public internet, only from our own server code. Your Anthropic key is encrypted on your computer when its secure storage is available. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

10. Transfers across borders

We are in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires, we rely on approved safeguards for transfers.

11. Children

MEND is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and if the change is significant we will tell customers by email. If MEND ever adds a new kind of connection, we will list it here and on the What MEND sends and stores page before it ships.
